Patricia Weiss was born in Weiden, Germany, where she was standing on stage for the first time at age three and fell in love with the art of performing. Shortly after her first experiences on stage she pursued her education in classical Ballet/Vaganova technique. At age 16, Patricia started teaching and choreographing and received her first press acknowledgements of her choreography shown at an open air festival in Hirschau, Germany.
Later on Patricia moved to Munich, where she received her training at the Iwanson School of Contemporary Dance. While still a dance student, she performed in the opera production of “Falstaff” by Verdi at the Munich State Opera. Upon graduation Patricia moved to New York City where she continued her studies at The Ailey School. In 2004 she returned to Munich for an apprenticeship with the Ballettheater Munich.
Throughout her career, Patricia has performed with many independent choreographers and dance companies in the US and Europe such as Tanzgruppe/Kompanie1 (Germany) & DeXdance (NYC). She has also shown her own choreography in various venues throughout New York City and Germany. As the USA correspondent/columnist for “dance-for-you”, a dance magazine published in Germany and distributed throughout Europe, Patricia wrote about various dance related topics, such as injury prevention, cultural marketing & the New York dance scene.
Since summer 2008, Patricia has been collaborating with the acclaimed German visual artist Annegret Hoch. Their collaboration "Continuing" premiered on September 2nd 2008 at the ISCP in Brooklyn, New York and the video of "Continuing" was also shown at the OSRAM Gallerie in Munich, Germany.
Patricia currently resides in New York City, where she also teaches the Teen Ballet Courses at the Ailey Extension, the open class program of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. In January of 2008
Patricia has been hired as Artistic Director & Choreographer of
VQ Productions NYC. In the latest productions Dance Theater “Voodoo Queen”, Patricia will also be dancing the part of Brigitte DeLavier.
